Wait, I Have a Blog?

It has been a while since I last blogged. I'm not really sure why I stopped, but I suspect it's because of how much time and effort I spent per post and realizing that very few people bothered to read it. I'm sure there are some who view their blog as a type of journal, a place to express how they feel. In part, this blog was that, but at the time I did envisage it as a place to do my part to inform and enlighten people.

Did I mention it was a time sink?

I came back to this blog more or less by happenstance. I randomly checked my Google+ because I saw a notification for it when I was checking my Gmail. In Google+ I checked "Apps" out of curiosity and saw the blogger app. Well hot dog!

Yes, pretty random but enough of that: look at this virtual time-capsule!

The very last blog post, from March 8, 2008, compared Hillary Clinton vs. Barack Obama in terms of experience and judgement.

Think about that. The last time I posted, Barack Obama had yet to become President and now here we are, half way through his second term. Not only that, we are again being regaled with non-stop will she / wont she run talk in regards to Clinton.

Remarkably, the post holds up pretty well, and I still stand by my conclusion that President Obama had the judgement for President. I am very glad he was the one answering that 3 am phone call. However, Clinton's subsequent career as Secretary of State has given me a better appreciation for her judgement, temperament, and style of doing things. Now there is little doubt about that whole 'experience' thing too. I look forward to seeing a great primary fight though, I don't want a coronation by any means.

Wrapping this up, I just want to say that this blog was about just about everything that I found interesting. I hope to check in more and to write about current events and important subjects. My current outlet is Facebook but I naturally limit the quantity and length of my posts there since:

  1. Post a lot (especially about serious subjects) and you will be hated/dreaded/unfollowed by your friends
  2. Anything longer than a paragraph is just too long for Facebook consumption (and even that is pushing it).

It's been a while, and Lord knows my writing has only devolved in the past 7 years, so give me some time!

Realistically, readership will be low but for anyone who happens to stumble in...

Welcome.

I hope to have something substantive (that is not over 7 years old) for you sometime soon.

Cheers.
